CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer
My first introduction to CrossFit was during the summer of 2009 when a friend from college started talking to me about this new program she was doing to stay in shape for her basketball career. I thought it was interesting, but I lived in Wisconsin, whereas she was in Ohio, and I knew nothing about this "CrossFit". Fast forward a few years...she moved to Wisconsin where she got a job as a personal trainer. On top of that she started giving myself and some of my friends workouts. That eventually grew to a group of 15-20 of us getting together almost every morning to workout. We did what we could with the equipment we had, but most of all just loved the feeling of all doing it together. We would complain about thrusters and overhead squats, but in the end we kept pushing each other because we were competitive in a friendly way, and ALL of us were seeing results physically that we hadn't in a LONG time.
This type of working out was so much more appealing to me than going to the YMCA or other globo gyms I had been doing since graduating from college. I was definitely tired of choosing between five basic cardio machines and then going through the circuit of assisted weight machines. Not only that, I was finding most days I was forcing myself to go just so I could stay healthy. It was not fun by any means so when I was able to just show up and be told what I was going to do and have all my friends to do it with me, there was no comparison.
After a year, circumstances changed and that led me to finally get the guts to try out a real CrossFit gym. I walked into CrossFit Greendale in April of 2012 for On Ramp. I loved it even more than I thought I would and was hooked immediately. My two-times per week membership quickly went Unlimited, I loved being there and wanted to soak in as much as I could. I was a full time teacher at that time so my gym time was still limited.
Through many blessings I now am self employed through Wildtree - an organic food company that focuses on helping people prepare healthy meals at an affordable price. Since I was able to make my own hours, I was able to spend more time at the gym. I started a more competitive training routine, learned as much as I could, and took nothing for granted.
I decided to get my Level 1 Crossfit Training Certification in November of 2013 and started coaching at Greendale right about the time CrossFit Menomonee Falls opened in March of 2014. The experiences I have had and continue to enjoy with our CrossFit family are more than I ever imagined they would be. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with and alongside so many awesome people that inspire me every single day. Being able to compete with a team at the North Central Regionals in 2013 and 2014, or go to Wodapalooza in Miami are things I will always remember. I now look forward to the what the future holds!
